Natural Gas-to-Electric Incentive Offer: Whole House Beneficial Electrification Program

Exclusive Invite to Receive Free Upgrades for Your Property

Central Hudson recently sent you a letter to your property letting you know that the company evaluated the gas infrastructure on your street. As a result, we are considering retiring selected sections of the gas lines serving your property. You may be eligible to receive exclusive upgrades to convert gas appliances to alternative electric energy efficiency options. Examples of potential upgrades include:

  • Combined heating and cooling system (air source heat pump)
  • Electric heat pump water heater
  • Induction cooktop/electric oven
  • Conversion of other natural gas appliances, as applicable

The value of the upgrades you may receive is dependent on your home and location (please refer to your letter). Plus, the owner of the electric utility account may qualify for a bill credit following the completion of the home upgrade. This offer is exclusive to the address on the letter you received, by invitation only, and is non-transferable. This offer is contingent upon a property audit and a feasibility study of the area.

Participation in this program is voluntary. You are not required to participate in this program.

Benefits of Your Potential Upgrades Include:

Air-Source Heat Pumps
  • Versatile: Can be used for heating and cooling
  • Healthy benefits: Filters and dehumidifies the air
  • Low carbon footprint: These systems use outside air to heat and cool your home
  • Efficient: Heat pumps are the most efficient way of heating your home and produce less carbon emissions when compared to using other fuel types
  • Work in lower temperatures: Air-source heat pumps can extract heat from the air even in negative temperatures. Technology has improved and air-source heat pumps do work in cold climates
  • Long lifespan: with proper maintenance, these systems will last up to 20 years
  • Quieter than air conditioner window units
Electric Heat Pump Water Heaters
  • Efficient: Use electricity to move heat from one place to another instead of generating heat directly therefore can be two- to three-times more energy efficient than conventional electric resisance water heaters
Induction Cooktop/Electric Oven
  • Efficient: Induction cooking uses magnetic currents to directly heat your pots and pans, instead of the cooktop
  • Easy: Induction cooktops are easy to clean -- since induction burners don’t heat the surface of the cooktop, any spills, splatters, or occasional boil-overs won’t burn onto the cooktop
  • Fast: With induction, heat is transferred directly to your cookware, not the surface of the cooktop. This means food heats up and water boils 50% faster when compared to standard electric or gas cooktops
