Powering Communities for 125 Years: Central Hudson Marks Milestone with 125 Acts of Service
Company Pledges up to $1 million to community organizations

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY, April 10, 2025 – Central Hudson Gas & Electric Corporation (Central Hudson), the Mid-Hudson River Valley’s primary energy company, is celebrating its legacy not only by looking back, but also by giving forward.

To commemorate more than a century of service, Central Hudson is deepening its roots in the region by performing 125 acts of service and pledging up to $1 million to local organizations that uplift and support Hudson Valley residents.

Throughout the 2025 calendar year, the company will invest time, talent, and resources into the areas that matter most to the communities it serves: healthy families, community improvement, and education. In just the first quarter of the year, Central Hudson donated more than $58,000 to 33 nonprofit organizations across the region, with much more to come.

“We are elated to mark this milestone anniversary of powering the communities where we live and work by giving back,” Steph Raymond, President and CEO of Central Hudson said. “Investing in this region is not just an act of kindness; it's a way to build a stronger, more connected society. Nearly all of our 1,200 employees live and raise their families here in the Hudson Valley, so these acts of service are deeply personal and rewarding for all of us.”

Central Hudson’s history is intertwined with the growth and success of the Hudson Valley. For generations, the company has not only powered progress through energy, but also through its ongoing community partnerships and philanthropic support.

One of the company’s community partners is the Poughkeepsie Farm Project, an agricultural cooperative that works toward a just and sustainable food system in the Mid-Hudson Valley. Central Hudson provided $10,000 to purchase seeds that allowed the Farm Project to grow more food for Poughkeepsie City School District Community Schools Department’s newly opened food pantry that provides healthy meals for school aged kids outside the cafeteria.

“The Poughkeepsie City School Community Schools Department is incredibly proud of our collaboration with Central Hudson and the Poughkeepsie Farm Project,” said PCSD Community Schools Department Interim Administrator. “Working together to support the community through the food pantry has been a rewarding experience, and it’s inspiring to see the positive impact we can make when we join forces.”

Over the last three years alone, Central Hudson and its employees have contributed more than $2 million to initiatives that enrich local life, including:

  • Arts and culture
  • Biodiversity
  • Education
  • Environmental Community Support
  • Health and Wellness
  • Safety
  • Small Business Support
  • Social Development

As Central Hudson looks to the future, the company remains committed to being more than a utility—it strives to be a force for good. To learn more about how Central Hudson is making a difference and how your organization can partner with us, visit www.cenhud.com/en/about-us/community/.
