Learn how to reduce your carbon footprint and lower utility bills, at Central Hudson Gas & Electric’s interactive display featured at this year’s Dutchess County Fair, taking place August 24 through 29 in Rhinebeck.
"New York is in the process of transitioning to a cleaner, greener energy system, and Central Hudson is here to help Hudson Valley residents lead the way,” said Charles A. Freni, President and CEO of Central Hudson. “One of the most cost-effective ways we can reduce our carbon emissions is by becoming more energy efficient. We’re looking forward to showing our customers all of the programs available to them.”
This year, customers will have the opportunity to learn about rebates and incentives on air and ground-source electric heat pumps, electric heat pump water heaters, and other energy efficient appliances. In addition, customers will have the opportunity to learn more about ChargePoint, the world’s largest network of electric vehicle charging stations.
“One-third of greenhouse gas emissions in New York State come from the transportation sector. We can make great strides in protecting our environment by building out a network of charging stations that will help us transition from gasoline and diesel-powered vehicles to battery-powered electric vehicles,” Freni added.
Central Hudson will also offer special pricing 10 packs of energy-efficient LED light bulbs for $10 each and include a free desk lamp at its pop-up store, located on the fair grounds. LED, or light emitting diode, lightbulbs are designed to reduce electricity used for lighting by 70 to 90 percent while producing the same amount of light, and last up to 25 times longer than incandescent bulbs. By replacing six of the most used incandescent lights with LEDs, households can save up to $90 per year.
This year, Central Hudson is also proud to sponsor the fair’s cell phone charging station, which will also disinfect the phones as they charge.
“For a century Central Hudson has proudly participated in this iconic community event. We’re excited that the fair has returned, and we’re looking forward to the opportunity to once again meet with our customers, share highlights on Central Hudson’s new initiatives and help answer questions,” said Freni.
