*Cost varies with region, installation complexity, installer, system size and manufacturer. Work with a certified clean heat contractor to determine what size unit you will need for your home or business. **$500 may be allocated to the contractor. ***Efficiency calculated by comparing heating performance of an ENERGY STAR-certified closed loop water-to-air geothermal heat pump to an ENERGY STAR-certified oil furnace. |
Air-Source Heat Pump
1) Central Hudson/Clean Heat Rebate (Whole Home/Building):
All whole home incentives require heat pump to be the primary heating source.
- Up to $1,000 per 10,000 Btuh if removing your oil tank or previous fossil fuel heating source.
- Up to $700 per 10,000 Btuh if installing advanced controls that turn on existing fossil fuel systems as backup or second stage heating.
- Up to $500 per 10,000 Btuh of heating capacity if not removing your oil tank or previous fossil fuel heating source.
A 1,600 square-foot building with modern building code practices and average to better insulation could require a heat load of 40,000 Btuh, which would equate up to a $4,000 Central Hudson/Clean Heat incentive.* $500 of total incentive may be allocated to the contractor.
A 2,500 square-foot building with modern building code practices and average to better insulation could require a heat load of 62,500 Btuh, which would equate up to a $6,250 Central Hudson/Clean Heat incentive.* $500 of total incentive may be allocated to the contractor.
*Based on removing oil tank or previous fossil fuel. Many factors go into determining the proper heat load/air-source heat pump size for your home/building, including age, amount of wall and attic insulation, number of windows, attic fans, etc. The above examples are not exact depictions. If your house/building has less insulation and more windows, it may require a larger heat load/air-source heat pump. Work with a certified clean heat trade ally to determine what size unit you will need for your home or business.
