Dig Safely

At least two, but no more than 10 days before you dig, drill or blast, you must call Dig Safely New York by simply dialing their 3-digit hotline number: 811. Calling this number will also contact affected municipalities and other utilities (such as telephone and cable TV companies) so that they can mark out their facilities, as well.

Failure to make this call at least two, but no more than ten, full working days ahead of time can result in civil penalties, and you may be held liable for damages to underground facilities and other property, as well; but more importantly, you can cause severe, and fatal, injury to yourself and others.
